Words and Worlds

Writing is my vocation and my avocation. My daily words embrace the literal, the concrete, the world simplified and structured so as to make sense in a linear way. In a broad sense, I write about machines, for machines.

My challenge in writing fiction and especially poetry is to go beyond the literal and mechanistic world, to include those elements of human nature, such as symbolism, humor, irony, magic, and delight, which mark us as something apart from our machines.
