WENATCHEE -- A 1-year-old involved in a Monday night car crash north of Entiat remained in critical but stable condition at Children's Hospital in Seattle today. Luis Aburto of Manson was taken there Tuesday. His mother, Stephanie Aburto, is in serious condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with head and chest injuries.

The Washington State Patrol continues to investigate the three-car accident that took two lives and injured eight other people Monday night on Highway 97A just north of Entiat.

State troopers have attributed the accident to icy roads. Stephanie Aburto, 30, Manson, was driving north on the highway and apparently lost control because of the ice. Her car crossed into the southbound lane and struck a car driven by Rosalia Kellogg, 30, of East Wenatchee.

Kellogg, who died Monday night at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee, is the wife of Wenatchee police officer Keith Kellogg.

At the start of Tuesday's City Commission meeting, city commissioners paused for a moment of silence in memory.

A third car driven by Brandy Fisher, 23, of Preston, was heading north on the highway and also struck Kellogg's car.

Jose Aburto, 26, of Manson, husband of Stephanie Aburto, was in stable condition at Central Washington Hospital following surgery Tuesday afternoon to repair spinal fractures.

Daughter Ariana Aburto, 2, was also at the Wenatchee hospital in stable condition with broken legs. Stephanie Aburto's other son, Jesus Rodriguez, 7, died at the scene.

Fisher was treated at the Wenatchee Hospital and later released, as was Michael Norris, 25, of Chelan, and Alex Norris, 5, of Chelan.

Miguel Bravo, 33, East Wenatchee, a passenger in Kellogg's car, was also treated and released.
