Hilltribe groups include : wonderful  Lo Mi Akha , U Lo Akha , Yao , Karen , Hmong , Black Hmong , Lahu or Misu and a few others
that have drifted in from China , Burma and Laos

Akha

The first time I came here there were no real roads , just a series of steep hills and valleys full of deep dust and hidden stones.
I found a small group of Akha men , sat down with them , smiled and made a few jokes in Thai .
After a while I unzipped an old striped plastic bag that carried my stuff and pulled out
some tobacco and a bottle of rice whisky (home made)
Later a beaten up guitar appeared from somewhere  .... I made friends
