At the beginning, he was surprised that she had released him. Now, hours later, the oppressive air of the dunes was wearing on him, and he stopped at the crest of one of the tallest, surveying the land around him. Nothing but more dunes as far as he could see. He let out a tired sigh.
"Give up yet?" his comlink asked.
"Fuck you, Wanda." He walked down the dune, but tripped and fell, exhausted and frustrated, to his knees. He clenched his eyes and faced the darkening sky. "Where the hell am I?!" he cried out, not really expecting an answer.
"You're in the middle of nowhere. Really." Maybe he was dreaming, but he could have sworn he heard her laughing at him.
