If some one told you about a really great a cappella jazz group that did all of their own arangements, and wrote most of their own music, what would you say? But then, this person happened to tell you that they were from Sweden, then what would you think? Well, this person would be describing The Real Group to you.

The Real Group, which consists of,

Margereta Jalkeus, Katrina Nördstrom, Anders Edenroth, Peder Karlsson and Anders Jalkeus, Soprano, Alto, Alto, Tenor and Bass, respectivly, are in my opinion the most talented accapella Jazz group in the world. A Short history: All of the singers are from Stockholm, and went to school there. When they were at the University in Stockholm, they met. It was a requirement at this University that all of the students participate in an ensemble of some sort. So, the singers formed their own ensemble an a capella vocal jazz group.

There was only one problem, lack of musical arrangements for 5 part jazz groups. Anders Jalkéus set out to change this. Utilizing a fake book enitled The Real Book (hence the name The Real Group), he wrote 5 arrangements in two weeks. It was from such humble beginings as these that The Real Group sprung. Now, not only does The Real Group sing arrangements of their own, but have just recently devoted an entire album to their own compositions, which, by the way, is quite excellent.
