"You mean like, on vacay?" Goin' home next weekend. I haven't been home since last Christmas, so like a year and a half. Part of me is really looking forward to it, part of me is apprehensive, but most of me just thinks it'll be a blessed relief to get out of here for a few days. Loving the job notwithstanding, I think a change of scene would do me some good. Unfortunately Spam's at school in Mich but Adam should be around, and I think i might drop by Jim's and see the kids for the first time in years. Mom also made me promise to clean all my stuff and nonsense out of the garage while I'm home. Note to self: spend more time in Berkeley than was previously planning. :)
Highballin' it tonight babayyaaaaaaaaaah. Again. Hehe. This time out to dinner and then to downtown for a girl's night out. I'm really excited for this one. We've been trying to get all three roomies together for a couple weeks now. Missing our weekly margarita nights in PB. Hopefully less... interesting people will be there tonight than there were for reggae night on Sun. Yikes. Was that Osama up there spinning?
CONCERT UPDATE:
`Lollapalooza. So how long has it been, like seven years or something since Lolla disappeared "forever" (this according to Perry Farrell, who, following in the footsteps of Kiss and Cher, has comebacks down to an art). Naturally when I saw the band list I didn't even blink at the $65 price tag. I mean, I think I'm gonna have to buy a vowel, because O! My goodness! Hahaha! This is HUGE! Having secured great seats and a great date (yay Dan), I wait for August with bated breath...
``Switchfoot. Was a great show. A bit crowded for the taste of the folks I was with, and slightly short on crowd-surfing songs for the taste of me (hey, I guess if you don't catch them on Meant to Live or Company Car you're pretty much out of luck, hah) but we all enjoyed ourselves heartily. nice crowd, nice show, nice nice nice.
```Cool band of the week: Pinback. They'll be rocking the show on Sunday at Canes, and my eardrums will be rocking them. Sweet.
To date or not to date people at work? Fun vs. potentially awkward if it doesn't work out? Send me your votes.
Five Ways to Make it On the San Diego music scene... a somewhat sarcastic (somewhat) list by me:
1. Be a guy, or be Jewel.
2. Be 18 and into bad pseudo-punk bands who don't write their own music but sure know their way around Manic Panic and industrial-strengh hair gel
3. Sure know your way around the C, G, and D chords on your guitar.
4. Have the same baseline and mostly the same chords for every song (hey, it worked for Jack Johnson)...MONSTER RIFFS buddy!
5. Change your name to Mark, Tom, and/or Travis.
What's in my CD player this week? (like you care) Jane's Addiction - "Nothing's Shocking", Me- JLR Mix, Switchfoot - "The Beautiful Letdown", The Used - "The Used", Jason Mraz - "Waiting for My Rocket to Come", "Save the Last Dance" Soundtrack
Quote of the Week: "It's times like these you learn to live again, it's times like these you give and give again, it's times like these you learn to love again, it's times like these, time and time again..." -Dave Grohl, "Times Like These"
