Woh. I miss the days when I could stay out all night, go straight to work, work my crazy-style opening shift and then go home and crash. This, for better or worse, has become my habit over the last couple of months. I mean, I've been at the Bucks for almost nine months, it's not like most of it's not automatic by now. A couple of espresso shots and I was good to go for the six or seven hour stretch. And not just barely functionable. Oh no my fine fellows, I was a machine on the bar. I don't mean to brag but I mean, FREAKIN' EXCELLENT at it. Haha! ;) Then I got promoted. Great, right? Well... the pay raise is great. But uh... WOW. Let me see how I can put this: the days of running on automatic pilot at work are over. I had to run shift and the cash deposit Thursday after I stupidly had gotten back from L.A. at 3 AM (read: one hour of sleep). Fairly bad idea, probably. Haha. Shoot.
Finally saw J's band. In what has become a rather inordinate amount of time spent in the City of Angels and vicinity, I traveled up to Hollywood to see what may be the last Stonecutters show... in their current form anyway, since they recently split with their singer. Good show, fun times and all that. The whole clubbish, "it's all who you know" vibe of the L.A. local music scene kind of cracked me up. It's like everyone's trying to make friends to get an in, and you never know if they're talking to you because they think you're cool or because they want a chance to hand you a flyer advertising their next show at the Troubador or something. Hah. Who said today's music's not political?

So it's August, and yesterday was the first time I've gone swimming this summer. THAT'S a little wacky, seeing as how I live in San Diego, which by the way has been flamingly, lethargy-inspiringly hot these last two days. A nice little dip in the pool was just the ticket. Underwater somersaults ahoy! Adam's pool has one of those ledges in it where it goes from four feet to like, eight and a half with one sudden dropoff. Yikes! Kiddie safe pool my chlorine-filled eye!
Cool band of the week: Stone Temple Pilots. ...for the simple fact that I cannot seem to remove "Purple" from my car's CD player without significant pangs of impending regret. I forgot how much it freakin' ROCKS!
Five Recent Misconceptions I Would Like to Take This Time to Clear Up:
1. I do not, in fact, look or act anything like "that girl from Superman". How long must this continue? Come on now.
2. I can't play Stairway to Heaven with my teeth.
3. I am not "The Last Tru Playa of the 21st Century", no matter what Randy says. ;)
4. Yes, that Justin Timberlake CD is mine.
5. Yes, that is me and Brandon Boyd from Incubus in those questionable photos that have recently surfaced on the internet. Just kidding.
What's in my CD player this week? (like you care) Stone Temple Pilots- "Purple", Yeah Yeah Yeahs- "Yeah Yeah Yeahs", Mars Volta- "De-Loused in the Comatorium", Ryan Adams- "Gold", Postal Service- "Give Up", Foo Fighters- "The Colour and the Shape"
