The new store! It's fun, it's chill, I love my manager. I'm working more mids than opens these days, but that's all right seeing as how my Burned-Out-O-Meter is sitting just a hair below Scorched. Methinks it might be time to find a second job. Don't particularly want to wait tables (Please Pete, no!) but that might be the answer to my cash dilemma. I've even been toying with the idea of going into RMT (Regional Management Training) with Starbucks, but we'll see. Suddenly thirty thou a year isn't sounding so bad...
Tastes like...burning! For those of you who don't live in San Diego county, and/or for those of you who don't make it a point to watch the news, it's awfully firey up in here. Even where there's no fire, there's ash everywhere. The first morning we woke up to a nice blanket of ash on the ground respectable enough to make you want to go outside and build a snowman. And the air is just sick. A couple of times I've seen people outside exercising in it. What are they smoking? (they might as well be, for all that) Yeah buddy. That's GOOOOD for you! Anyway, it's been a sad scene here, but things is lookin up. And we can finally look up and see the sky.
Wickedly long hair gone... Hooray for bangs! I'm a pixie i'm a pixie! (pixie-like)
The nefarious plot to un-car me! Last week I bid an emotional farewell to my little redmobile which, according to the repair guy, will "be speaking Spanish very shortly". Basically it was going to cost me $1300 to replace the entire power steering rack. I said, "HA!" to that plan and started shopping for a new ---mobile (prefix color as yet undetermined), as 1) I don't own $1300, I work at Starbucks for Pete's sake and 2) the car has 105,000 miles on it, and even if said $1300 appeared, it would be rather a poor decision on my part to pour it into a car that will surely have something else wrong with it next month, and the month after, and so on and so forth. So I am currently carless. Getting to work has been...special. Poor beleaguered Adam, who has been up countless times to drive me to work at 4:30 in the morning, deserves some kind of award, as does Morgan, who has let me borrow her car about a hundred times over the last two weeks. More staggering updates on this situation to come. Next time, tune in for the heartbreaking story of how the repair guy broke the power steering rack himself and how now there's no way for me to prove it. A Very Special Episode.
Cool band of the week: Feeder. Check out their mesmerising blend of power chords and late-90's twentysomething angst. Recommended tracks: "High", "Just the Way I'm Feeling", and "Come Back Around".
Five Friends I Should Probably Call So They Know I'm Not Dead:
1. Sam.
2. Danica.
3. Jason.
4. My cousin Ryan.
5. Everybody else I haven't called. Sorry. I'm a jackhole.
What's in my CD player this week? (like you care) I don't have a CD player anymore. And thanks for the reminder.
