Defensive Linemen:

For ten years now PRO BOWLER Cortez Kennedy(DT) has been the cornerstone to Seattle's Defense. And last year finally saw some other defensive team mates step up and take off some of the pressure. Don't get me wrong, if you still want to slow up the "Tez" you still have to double team him. These days for Seattle opponents are left with only one choice, and that is "Which poison to pick."

With names like PRO BOWLER Michael Sinclair(DE), last years NFL sack master with a league leading 16.5 sacks will be seeking to improve where he left off last year. Sinclair is very fast when in pursuit, and is as good as they get.

Then you have Sam Adams(DT) getting better and looking to have a breakthrough year. This guy stopped Lawrence Phillips(R.B for SanFran) with one arm. And that was while Lawrence was running at full speed. That is strength, my friend, that is strength.

Defensive End Phillip Daniels is solid, but looks like he will be challenged and be pushed by rookie Lamar King, a first rounder with 4.7 speed! This defense is fast, and powerfull.

We have solid back ups too in Antonio Cochran, Matt LaBounty, and Riddick Parker.

LineBackers:

Pro Bowler Chad Brown (OLB) is one the best linebackers all time. He just excels at every level of the position. Last year Chad had over 150 tackles, 8 sacks, and 2 interceptions.

Darrin Smith(OLB) was a valuable addition last year. DeShoone Myles(MLB) did a great job filling in for 1st rounder Anthony Simmons who was injured early in the season. Look for a another solid performance in our linebacking corp.

Secondary:

Pro Bowler Shawn Springs (CB) who returned 2 of his 7 intercepts for a touchdown. He is quite the Ball-hawk. And could possibly be the best in the league very soon.

Willie Williams is quick and smart. He can still hang with the best of them.

Darryl Williams and Jay Bellamy at the Safety Positions look great. It is possible that these two could switch positions at Free and Strong Safety positions. Either way, it doesn't look good for opponents.

OVERALL, this squad was ranked 27th on the NFL criteria for Defense rankings. What they do is rank a defense by yards allowed. And that does not give an overall performance on defense. So Seattle didn't look good on the NFL paper stats. But on the field where is really counts Seattle kicked butt last year. To bad the NFL doesn't facotr in more input about Defenses. But at any rate, Seattle had 53 sacks to lead the AFC conference, and 2nd in the entire NFL league, second to the Giants. And if that wasn't enough, the "Hawks" Defense had 10 Touchdowns, an NFL record!

Opposing quarterbacks and offensive linemen who have games against Seattle, look to be in trouble! They have an inevitable meeting with "The Blue Tsunami".
