ABOUT THE ARTIST
Slovenska Bistrica - Andrej 1-22-99
At the moment I live as a freelance artist and do not earn a lot of money. Wishing you all the best from the Soviet Republic of Slovenia.
Kibla Cafe - Andrej 1-22-99
I have access to the internet over Cyber Cafe Kibla in Maribor (financed by US bilionaire George Soros), which is 25 km away from Slovenska Bistrica, a town where I live. Once a week I drive to Cafe Kibla to check my e-mailbox at Yahoo, which I opened, because a friend of mine who lives on Hawaii asked me to do so. Our letters on paper in envelopes "wander" in one direction up to three weeks long through the "e(ternal)-network" of the cargo-post offices.
Every visitor in Cafe Kibla has the right to work on a computer only for an hour a day. I was lucky that I met a student of computer programming in Kibla a month ago, who helped me to
install my homepage, because for the first time in my life I was confronted with html programming code. A friend of mine has a small "one man" print shop, where I was able to use his computer equipement and scan the photos of my work. That's how the homepage was created. A computer, which i use at my home is an 11 year old XT (16MHz 8080 processor), which I can use for text writing.
Preferences - Andrej 1-29-99
Mostly I paint in my studio in the Atems Castle in
Slovenska Bistrica. Computers are only a tool I sometimes use. I prefer "the real life", it "tastes" different on so many diverse levels!
