Candy Sticks

I dreamt of rainbows, five in the sky all at once --
They were like candysticks bent to kiss mouths
Of cloud-gazing children, dreaming women,
Men, giving thanks that the storm had passed.

They were like candysticks bent to kiss mouths,
To feed my desire to bolt from restless years,
Men, giving thanks that the storm had passed,
To break and swallow the fancies born of fears.

To feed the desire to bolt from restless years,
My spirit learned, while living in the thicket
To break and swallow the fancies born of fears.
The trees swayed to let it pass --

My spirit learned while living in the thicket
Of cloud-gazing children, dreaming women.
The trees swayed to let it pass --
I dreamt of rainbows, five in the sky all at once.
