Change the size of my picture:                                    Get those 'ants' off my text:

     go to Layer-transform-scale                                           go to Select-none

Find out which layer I am on:                                      Print it the right size:

     go to Window-show layers                                            go to File-print-setup-choose landscape

Put rulers on my picture:                                             Find the map of colors:

     go to View-show rulers                                                   go to Window-show swatches
 
 

SOLUTIONS TO COMMON PROBLEMS...
 
 
I can't get the filters to show.....

 You probably need to change the image mode....go to Image-Mode....RGB is the most
 versatile mode to use with filters.  This will allow you to use all the colors with the paint
 bucket, as well (to fill in line drawings with color)
 

I can't get my paint tools to work...
 
 You are probably on the wrong layer....go to Window-show layers.  There will be a
 thumbnail picture of each layer, highlight the layer you want to use your tools on.  If you
 want to erase an entire layer, this is a good place to look, too.
 
I can't save!

If you were changing the size of your picture, you have to apply the transformation before Adobe will let you do anything else.  The easiest way to do this is to choose another tool.  You will then get a pop-up box asking if you want to apply the transformation, choose apply.
