Window of Sir Kytte Meliora
Stevenson, Meridies first Lady Knight.
by Baroness Rhiannon Cathaoir-mor,
OL.
This panel is based on a window
of St. Catherine made by Peter Hemmel
about 1480 a.d. for the Kloster
Nonnberg, Salzburg, Austria.
The original window included an architectural framework and other figures which I chose not to include in my panel due to space and time constraints. I also chose not to reproduce obvious repair, as I prefer to try to capture the spirit of the original piece through maintaining integrity of design, as opposed to blindly reproducing damage which may not have even been present in period.
This panel is roughly 3 ft by 5 ft. It was done in spare time (evenings and weekends) over the course of one and one half months. This time includes conception and design.
The photograph of the original window of St. Catherine can be found on page 40 of Stained Glass: an Illustrated History by Sarah Brown, 1992, Crescent Books. This book is currently out of print, but if you would like Amazon.com to do a search for it, click here now.
