Hell. It is a dark place, split into 8 separate spheres. Each sphere has its own evil purpose. The last and darkest is the 8th. Ruled by the demon only known as Malebolgia, his goal is to annihilate Heaven and God.

          For centuries, he has selected warriors of ages past to fight for the dark side. Each warrior need not be evil at first, but must have the seed within themselves. These men become Malebolia's:
Hellspawn.

          Each Spawn, as they are more commonly known has 1 mission: to bring more souls into Hell for the final battle between Good and Evil, between Light and Dark. The current Spawn is the man known as Al Simmons.

          Al Simmons was a CIA assassin. He had a wife, Wanda Blake. Al was later killed by a colleague, who is known as Chapel. Then, Terry Fitzgerald married Wanda, and they had a daughter, Cyan.

          Al went to hell, and met Malebolgia, the Devil. Malebolgia gave him a second chance to re-live by becoming Spawn, the living Hell Spawn and work for Malebolgia. However, Al turned against Malebolgia while trying to get his soul back. Malebolgia, sent Violator to destroy Spawn, and to follow him wherever he went. When the Violator isn't chasing Spawn, he is disguised as The Clown.

          Overtkill, a very large half human, half machinea to destroy Spawn. He then also tracked down Spawn and tried to eliminate him, but he fail. After Overtkill, Angela, a weapons warrior, attempted to kill Spawn. Redeemer was the next to hunt downt Spawn, but then Spawn killed him, or so he thougth.

          Spawn's enemy was the unstoppable Tremor. Spawn and Tremor fight for a couple issues of Spawn comics before Tremor was defeated. Next, a new anti- spawn is sent to distract Spawn while the Redeemer tried to kill him. Spawn killed the Redeemer, and got a new costume, or became Spawn II.

          The Curse, who before he chased Spawn, got his arm blown off, and replaced it with a giant chainsaw. While Spawn and The Curse were fighting each other, a new project was going on, Ape-X. Ape-X was then named Cy-Gor. After the whole scene with the Curse, Tiffany, a new warrior angel, comes to fight and destroy both Spawn and Angela.
