Musical Influences

Not-So-Obscure Stuff

Let's see, is there ANYTHING I can add to the hefty forest of Beatles web-sites we can't help but trip over, lately? I DON'T THINK SO! But this is the music that helped put callus on my fingertips, and continues to play on my stereo, as well as my son's stereo, thirty years after it was created! Where were YOU when John Lennon was shot? Where were you when you heard The Beatles had broken up? And have you heard that Hard Day's Night is being re-released at the theatres in March of 1999? SERIOUSLY!

When my older brother first brought in a copy of Bringing It All Back Home and played "Mr. Tambourine Man", I was struggling with a wide-necked, Silvertone electric guitar in a vain attempt to sound like the Beatles. I immediately snivelled the funds from my parents to buy an acoustic 12-string and learned every Dylan song on vinyl. All four chords. Ah, but it was the POETRY that knocked me out. To this day, I can't play without breaking into "It Takes A Lot To Laugh, It Takes A Train To Cry". My favorite LP/CD? Blood On The Tracks.
