The Strange Life of Huckleberry Pie, OR the Humilation of Huck

Poor Huck. His life started well. One of the original friends of Strawberry Shortcake, he was one of the only males in Strawberry Land. Huck was surrounded by pretty girls, had a great dog (Pupcake) and could fish any old time he wanted to. A care-free kind of guy.

Ah, the way it was.

But then, it all went wrong. After years of the good life, Huck found himself separated from his friends, and sadly, his clothes...Below are some pictures collected from popular auction sites. Seems Huck frequently winds up in clothing belonging to his SSC gal-pals. Pictures range from mildly amusing to downright bizarre. Here, for your observation, I present Poor, Humiliated Huckleberry.

For reference, this is how Huck SHOULD look:

Huck in the Berry Wear Pink PJ's.

Huck (on the right) in a non-SSC dress.

Huck (on the right) wearing Raspberry Tart's jumper, tights and Cherry Cuddler's hat.

Huck again with Cherry's hat.

That's not Huck's hat. Why do they keep trying to put hats for the babies on this poor guy? (That's the hat from the Berry Wear PJs for the babies.)

Look close and you'll see Huck (on the bottom left) in those pink PJ's again.

Can you find not one but two Hucks wearing Blueberry Muffin's hat? Look closely!

I hope Huck (on the left) knows the words to "Tomorrow", as that's Little Orphan Annie's dress!

Very confused Huck in that pink nightgown, tights, Strawberry's hat and Blueberry's shoes.

This person put Huck's outfit on Strawberry Shortcake and dressed Huck in a too small girl's nightgown. Yikes!

Yes, it's Huck on Maple Stirrup, the SSC horse. He seems to be wearing a Strawberry outfit (1991 Berry Pretty?), hat and unknown shoes. And yes, that's Custard keeping an eye on him.

Looks like somebody loves Huck BERRY much...he looks pretty pleased with himself, don't you think? (I think they look like marks from the Kissing Barbie doll, but we won't tell Strawberry.)

Now, if this person managed to get two Huck's dressed correctly, why is the one on the bottom row wearing a Blueberry Muffin's Dress and Apple Dumplin's hat? (Note the Baby Blueberry behind him looking startled.) If all these sellers got together, we could have a complete Blueberry Muffin...

Huck in a twisted chorus line. Can you spot him?

Close up.

Oh, I can hear him singing "I ain't got no BODY..." (at least the clothes are right!)

And this is the reprise...

Looks like Huck has gone hippie, with Angel Cake.

I'm not sure what to say here, except that it's berry strange...Huck looks like a kid from Lord of the Flies.

This is super cute, Huck as Berry Potter (Harry Potter). This was made by one of the cool chicks on the Strawberry Land Town Square Board, Laurel. At least he's still a boy!

Clowns are scary, even when they're made from SSC characters. This is a "knock off" using Huck's name, though.

Now, SSC dolls are not anatomically correct, so all one has to go on when id'ing Huck is his face paint. He's the only one with the tongue sticking out (in the US versions). He usually winds up in lots, unidentified or mis-identified. But have faith, we SSC collectors can spot him. Though we may laugh a bit, we love Huck still. Hang in there, Huck, you'll be the king of SSC land again. One day. If YOU have any funny pictures of Huck, send them to me (link below).
