Bead Buddy "Furby"

For my daughter's birthday I needed something to put into the loot bags. On the Net I had found some bead buddy patterns and copied them. I asked my daughter to pick one pattern and she picked the Furby.

I tried out the pattern and realized that it was too big and used too many beads. So I adapted it to a slightly smaller size and this is the result.

I started by laying out the beads in the pattern and colors I liked. Then I strungs them on thick cotton yarn.

Bead Buddy Furby stringing
The red and green colors indicate one half of the string after it is folded in half. You can see that the strings cross each other on each row. This stablizes the design.

  • Take a piece of string about 2 yards long and fold in half and loop through key ring.
  • Now thread a thick embroidery needle on each end of the string.
  • String the bead accoring to the design on the first string. Then go with the other piece of string through the beads from the opposite direction.
  • Repeat for each row.
  • Knot the two strings together at the end.
