OK, I just realized I forgot to tell you all about, Excess Baggage. I liked it. It was funny, the characters had some depth to them, and everything wasn't wrapped up at then end. My Aunt didn't like the male lead, but I did. He wasn't super cute, but I like the way he rambled... Of course Alicia Silverstone gave us the patented pout, and was cute throughout. |
Well, I got almost no sleep last night. Any part of my body that was exposed (as in not under the covers) got groomed by the kitty. I was tempted to call him Licker because of it, but the name lacked class. That's the hard part about naming cats. They have a mischievous heart, but a regal manner, and sometimes it's hard to find a suitable name. I'm sure that's what T.S. Eliot was getting at in "The Naming of Cats". We have to find a unique name for him, which can be shortened, or works as a common name. [My cat Kaos went by Kaos King of Kats when he was particularly haughty, but just plain Kaos most times...] Azura went out to find a table or desk this morning, heading back to the flea market. I was just too tired to go...especially when we'd agreed to not go today. Oh well, Azura often backpedals, I sometimes have no clue what the ultimate decision is. I really wish she wouldn't backpedal...I rarely ahve a chance to agree with her first position before she's backpedalled to a new one. That and she worries that she offends me, when there was no chance of that. It makes me wonder if I should be worrying. Probably not. I played Dark Forces for awhile, waking up. Azura retuned, table in hand. She got it at Wal-mart for 20 bucks. Guess we should have just started there. As soon as I got the thing unpacked I started up the NetBSD machine. Thankfully, it booted, which meant that I could use it with just the new monitor. That was a good thing b/c the 486 had the wrong kind of memory slots [even though I showed it to them, when I bought the memory...oh well, it's still good memory]. So I transferred the 8Mb from the 386 to the 486, adn tried to boot it. I never got any video, and was afraid I'd screwed that card up in the process. Ultimately, I went back to the 386, and voila! it works fine. The next step was to set up the modem. I checked some web pages, and thought I knew, but screwed that up too. I wound breaking NetBSD in a way I didn't have the knowledge to fix, and decided to start over from scratch. I'm not a complete idiot, I just don't know some of the basics of managing Unix, which is part of why I'm doing this in the first place. I'm downloading the last bits of the OS tonight, and I'll install it tomorrow. Azura and I are going to the Cajun Queen to eat, and we'll probably just relax tonight, and not worry too much.
