PEARLS

the way one hand
joins another in meditation
the way the petals
of a flower are seated
on a stem
the way the heart
is held within the body

not a pushing away
nor a seeking
a nearness
a being next to
a quiet fitting
like pearls in a strand

that which holds it
invisible
yet no less present
the matrix
that without which
it would be only parts
things separate

this is how your heart
rests within me
