Believe it or not, someone, somewhere, right this minute, is listening to "Give Peace a Chance." Talk about odds. (And dirty minds.) Ok, let's say there are 300 million people in the US and Canada--I'm sure there are more, but let's use 300 million. Let's say for the sake of the argument that a 3rd of them are really young and a 3rd are really old. That leaves us 100 million--still probably conservative. 100 million people--50 million couples--eligible to be engaged in highly personal situations at any given time. If the average couple has sex 8 times a month, (8 times in 30 days), that means there is a 1 in 3 3/4 chance--say 1 in 4--that a particular couple is. So on any given day, 12.5 million couples are going to have sex in the US and Canada. That means 520,833 couples per hour are initiating sex. That means 8,681 couples per minute. 145 couples a second. Every second, 145 pants are unbuttoned or bras unclasped. So if every couple averages 15 minutes per episode, and incidences of sex were spread evenly throughout the day, that means that right now, 130,215 couples are currently having sex. In the US and Canada. As to what the odds are that one of those couples is listening to "Give Peace a Chance," I'm just not sure. There is a new travelogue entry and a few new journal entries. I'm a very hot-and-cold writer. |
