My Analysis...

It seems to me this person has a likeness towards Fred Flinstone. Now don't get me wrong here...we've all liked Fred once in our lifetime. To me, it seems that this person's dreams represents a goal or ambition that this person is after but thinks she can not achieve it. The Mall must represent "her" life as it is now...she doesn't know where she stands and she's confused by which direction she should direct her life. The escalators, and may I emphasize, "long" escalators are the different directions her life can lead to.

The girl who she recognizes from school adds familiar ground to her life. It's enough stability to keep her intact with what she is right now. The beautiful turtle earrings could represent one path in life which is very appealing but when she takes this "path" she finds out it's not worth it and turns into something she does not desire but it is too late. The part of her dream where she buys these fred flinstone earrings for herself means that she has accepted this fate and does not have the will or motivation to change it herself.
