I've been unsubscribed from The Fiver.
Well, I didn't do any of it myself. I can't you see. I'm banned from the computers at college.
But as of Wednesday 16th December 1998,
there has been a Fiver sized hole in my heart.
Do I miss it?
Do I buggery.
I've got new subscriptions to a few other e-mailing
lists though. Cheers to all
those people who signed me up to "Internet Lawnmower"
and the like.
The replies to the original e-mail are still dribbling
in. The lightning speed
of electronic communication is a truly humbling
experience.
There again, printing it out, faxing it to head
office, dictating the reply and faxing it back
to be typed and sent to me does take a bit of time.
This site made The Guardian's Editor
section. (not surprising really)
The incident was referenced in Need to Know, so I can die with a smile on my face.
Private Eye mentioned it I am told.
It probably made dotTV on sky but who watches that?
I've had a request for any more replies, but the
thing is there aren't that many more left.
There hasn't been that many new ones. If
you want to send me links or musings here
then I'll happily
post them for you. I am interested to know
what it looks like from the other side.
Go on, who knows where it will lead. It's
only e-mail. What can go wrong?
Here's some new replies.
I've got a Christmas link for you too. You lucky people.
metababy
Send mail here
and it will be put on the metababy site here.
Go for it. It's fun.
The whole incident has been a learning experience.
It's given me a few ideas
about what I can do after my degree. The
Internet is a powerful tool for humanity.
I feel it is our duty to wind up as many Daily
Mail reading, Blue Peter watching,
Man Utd supporting reactionaries as possible.
Are you with me?
Don't get even, get mad.
