Yanina Batirshina
Trainer: Irina Viner. When asked what she dreamed of becoming, Yanina did not hesitate to answer: "Olympic champion!" And she has very nearly achieved just that she was the silver medalist in all-round competition at the age of 17. Any gymnast would dream about that, but Yanina wants the gold medal so the medal will likely be waiting for her in Sydney in 2000. Today, she is the absolute champion of Russia, the proud possessor of the "Cup of Russia", a silver medalist at the European championship in all-round competition and the world champion in the ribbon exercises. She is very young, and has many future titles to win. Her time has come of course, if her love of good food doesn't interfere.
