Einheit 2: Einladung
On 14/12/1999, Tuesday, we went to German Club at Bukit Timah First Avenue to try real traditional German food. To most of us, this is our first time trying out German food. It was a great experience. Having learnt German for half a semester, we have only the chance to read and learn about German food. Finally, it is now the time we taste some of the German food found in our textbooks.
See below for some photos taken.

Das ist unsere Lehrerin, Frau Heidi Schulz-Rittich. Sie kommt aus Deutschland.
This is our teacher, Frau Heidi Schulz-Rittich. She comes from Germany.

First Picture:
In the foreground, we have different types of meat & sausages (called Wurst in German). The sausages taste really good & quite different from the normal sausages we eat. The meat in spiral shape is also a type of sausage. You will be able to find this in our S'pore Marche, the Rosti stall. The 'round' meat is called Hamburger

There is simply too much meat here. In the end, we have to 'da bao' back the leftovers.

In the background, that is pickled cabbage, called Sauerkraut. Some of us find it nice, but I personally find its taste weird.

The drink seen in the second picture is called ...(I can't remember its name). I juz remember it is made from beer(Bier) and apple juice(Apfelsaft). This drink  is commonly consumed by farmers.

Missing from the pictures, we also had baked potato (Folienkartoffel), salad(Salat),  bread (Brot), German dumpling(Knodel). This dumpling is made of bread and potato. It is very very filling. Personally, I find the appearance of dumpling very interesting. It looks like a very big scope of ice-cream/mash potato. As for its taste,.... ... errr, I dun quite like it.

It happened to be my birthday. The cake in front of me is actually a type of German bread with lots of raisins and sugar icing. Yummy!! This is the best cake/bread I have ever tried.

The dessert we had(not in picture) was made of all kinds of berries.Any kind of berries you can think of.
I can't remember its name, but it is also very tasty & special.

Our group picture. Look! My camera has German imprint caption.
Ich liebe dich means I love you!
It has been a real fun night. It's a real pity that some of our classmates missed this rare opportunity to dine in German Club.
