2001

January 4-January 10:
LONDON
Paula's research unfortunately required that we make a trip to London! We missed our families (and ice water) a great deal, but we saw many sights, visited Carole and David, and spent a lot of time at the British Library. Does anyone know where to get "Kent Hood" coffee or "less sweet" sugar? Yum!
We took pictures...
enjoy!

January 22-March 10:
ON THE VERGE
This Spring Paula is directing On the Verge, by Eric Overmyer, Spring Major for the Tufts student-run theater group Pen, Paint, and Pretzels (the 3-Ps). Myra Hope designed and built the three actress' backpacks! On the Verge runs March 8, 9, and 10.

May 25-May 28:
CUTTING EDGE OF THE CAMPFIRE
We spent over 20 hours at the Memorial Day Weekend edition of the Cutting Edge of the Campfire, pumping coffee and amazing music to the wee hours! (...and that makes us lightweights!) Club Passim logo

Notable performers were Chris & Meredith Thompson, James O'Brien, Karaugh Brown, and an awesome round featuring Deb Talan, Sam Shaber, and Teddy Goldstein! The final round of the entire event featured Trina Hamlin, Nate Borofsky, Tara Greenblatt, and Andrew Kerr. We're still recovering from the caffeine overload.

June 16-June 24:
WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC
As of June 16 we will be on our way to Family Vacation Mach I in North Carolina. There will be sun, surf, and lots of sand, and this year will mark the first summer vacation in which Paula can goof off! Wrightsville Beach, NC

July 14-July 21:
CHARLESTOWN BEACH, RI
Close on the heels of Mach I, we embark upon Family Vacation Mach II in Rhode Island. We hope to build up those remarkable tans, get MORE sand in our electronics, write a Survivor-style scavenger hunt for the young-uns, and do a little reading for pleasure! A game of frisbee would not be out-of-order, either. Charlestown Beach, RI

August: WHOOSH!

Myra Hope published The Five Stages of Xena Withdrawal in Whoosh! Online Association of Xena Studies magazine.

August 3-August 5:
HOTEL WEEKEND
We are resting. We holed up at the house eating takeout and watching videos. The lineup: three Xena episodes we'd missed (Send in the Clones, When Fates Collide, Many Happy Returns)(thanks, Dave & Kathy!), Blair Witch Project, What's Cooking, Sweet & Lowdown, and Bullets Over Broadway.

Gabrielle and Xena

August 31-September 2:
CUTTING EDGE/ HARPERS RETREAT
Labor Day Weekend found us back at Club Passim for the next Cutting Edge of the Campfire Festival! Myra Hope slipped away for a few days to attend the Harpers Retreat at Bear Brook State Park in NH, where there was great rejoicing.

Cacofonix

Notable Campfire acts this year included Chris Thompson (sans Meredith), Jennie DeVoe (with Sam Shaber!), Mark Erelli, Gooselove (sans Antara), and an amazing set with Rachel McCartney, Karaugh Brown, and Steve Tannen. I still remember Steve Tannen's "Sing me to Sleep" from last year. Great stuff!

Autumn 2001:
Sundry Pursuits

We have been lying low recently.

On the morning of September 11, we watched a Today Show interview with Tracie Ullman. During her interview, Tracie, quite possibly the funniest woman on television, asked, "are you thonging it, Katie?" I've been fixated on that image ever since.

Paula and I have read many books and seen many movies and agree that Mulholland Drive is probably the best film, with or without lesbian content, that we've seen this year.

Coming in December... our list of the YEAR'S BEST.

December:
Mor Gwyddelig

MH and Caera Aislingeach formed a band, started work on a 5-song sampler CD called Caniadau, and played out. We even have our own web site...

This picture was taken on the steps of the Sunrise assisted living facility, right after our Winter Solstice concert.
