12.31.07 Wake Me when it’s Over
             23.5 hours to go.

I've been neglecting my writing in order to spend quality time with friends and fam.
Not a bad trade off, but I have missed my words.  Besides so much has happened yet little has changed. The days are a blur of driving and shopping centers.

Wednesday: Crate & Barrel after Christmas, a family tradition spent at Fashion Square as always.
My brother and I cruise the mall, browsing and shopping through a sea of people whilst checking out MILF central. He has plans with friends and I go home to visit Mary before doing more chores  (closets are smoking, not for people). I pick him up at 10pm and we head to Homme.

We arrive to a full club the music is great and everyone's having a good time.
The body heat from the dance floor keeps everyone warm.  I get my drink on and talk to my already inebriated brother about life and love.   As someone who's been there, he speaks from experience.  We drink and dance till 1:30 in what had to be the coldest night of the year we head home passing a bank thermometer reading 31F. Thank God ÜberSkank didn't show up to ruin my night.

Hungover and sore, I awake Thursday morning to my brother wretching in the bathroom.
We make our way to Ski Pro and the Biltmore, at the Apple Store my bro hooks me up with a $30 piece of 10 cent plastic to protect my iPod.  Lunch at Chipotle and a few Wii Sports matches, before we know it, it's 2am and another day is gone.

Friday, the bro and I head to SCC only to find it closed till New Year's.   Off to BestBuy where the sibling shows me the model of the high-def TV he just ordered.
"It's been a rough year" he says "I deserve it."
"You think you've had a rough year?" I inquire.

He of the girlfriend/Wall St loft/NYU Doctorate agrees with me and drops the subject.
We grab lunch at In & Out before heading to Zia, I can't remember the last time I was in there it's probably for the best.  Same tattooed go-nowhere's behind the counters, same over priced obsolete merchandise.  Fashion Square and PV Mall follow before dinner at Chilli's.  I take him to the airport for a redeye to NYC.

Saturday.  After chores, R comes over and we bake out.  Stoned and hungry, we stop at the Starbucks for coffee and cookies before heading to Tempe.  Off to Zia to get Season 1 of 4400.  An ugly pitstop at the dreaded W makes us late to my place were her husband had brought us dindin.

Sunday: dinner with Lyss.  Our belated Xmas Xchange/dinner spent sharing at The Vig.  A hipster joint less than a mile from me that I've never visited.  I order an Arcadia Burger (the kind my nanny used to make). We talk the talk of lonely twentytensomethings, commiserating over a bottle of Pinot Noire.  She invites me to her sister's New Year's party grateful that I can drink myself into a stupor with company instead of alone.

This break has been great, friends and family make the good times sweeter and the bad times easier to get through. Split into a 6-month dichotomy of bliss and despair, this was the hardest year of my life.  Betrayed by someone I thought was my soulmate will take long to heal.  I learned my lesson and I'm ready to forget she ever happened.

Needless to say, I'm ready to blow this Popsicle stand.
2007 needs to go to hell and never be heard from again.
2008 will be better.

        Happy New Year!
