Dear Members: Your reading group looks wonderful. As a local author in Virginia, I would be very happy to be added to your list of authors whose books you discuss. To whom may I mail some information about my most recent book along with a copy for you
to review? It is entitled "Fragments of a Woman's Life: A Memoir" and it is hot off the presses. People who have read it love it, and say that it is inspirational.
It is on the web page at Amazon.com. I know your group would enjoy reading and discussing it. Please let me know how to send you a copy. Thank you and enjoy! Sincerely, Sandra Manigault

Can Our Ancestral Memory be Purified?
Pearl Duncan - 09:10pm Mar 31, 2000 EST
Author
Toni Morrison dramatizes re-memory and re-remembering. Pope John Paul II asked for a "purification of memory." Malcolm Gladwell, in his Atlantic Unbound interview for his new book, The Tipping Point, discusses "transactive" memory -- the theory that "one
f the places we store a lot of the information in our memory is in other people."
The new transactive theory says important pieces of memory of our experiences and of historic events are stored in the minds of friends,
co-workers, mates, lovers, spouses, neighbors, relatives, children, and people with whom we come in contact.
My question is: Can our memory of experiences and historic events be purified?
Pearl Duncan, author of the personal historical memoir about my ancestors, "Trees Tall: We Were Warriors and Prisoners-of-War and Hostages, Not
Slaves."
Thanks everyone,
Pearl Duncan

Visitors to your site should definitely check out Sin in Soul's Kitchen by Andrew Oyefesobi...and do it NOW. I found it at http://www.urbanprince.calicopark.com This sexy, psychological thriller is described as Loves Jones meets Melrose Place. The story i
about how the obsessive lust of an upwardly mobile young woman eats away at the dreams of her poetry-lovin' man and his "soul circle" of activist/artists. Amid the intense drama and ferocious scandal, some heavy issues are explored. Definitely a read fo
the daring.
