About the Artist

Edmund Hayes has studied at the Columbus College of Art and Design and with master portraitist Marvin Triguba of Lancaster, Ohio. Ed is originally from Richmond, Indiana, but now makes his home in Mount Vernon, Ohio. That is the location of Stone Lion Studio. Many of these paintings are for sale, and commissions are welcome. After a long career in foreign language education, Edmund Hayes returned to painting some fifteen years ago. He has exhibited in various locations in the Columbus, Ohio area to include the Lancaster Festival, OCLC in Dublin, the Cultural Arts Center, City Hall, and the Trinity Gallery in downtown Columbus, and galleries in the Short North and Worthington, Ohio. Locally, Ed exhibited in the first Knox County Art League show at the Living Center in Mount Vernon in 2001 as part of the Dan Emmett Festival, and won first place in the professional division of the first annual members’ show of the Knox County Art League, 2002. In 2003, he won first place in the painting division of the first annual Knox County Art League spring show. He has also taught oil painting at the former Alexander & Rhodes Art House in Mount Vernon, and most recently at his own Stone Lion Studio in Mt. Vernon.

Ed's work has been featured in articles in the Short North Gazette, Dublin Life Magazine, and the Mount Vernon News. His work is primarily in acrylic and oils, and his subject matter includes florals, still life, portraits and architecture.

Ed is a current member, board member, and past president of the Knox County Art League, and has been a member of the Westerville, Ohio, art league for a number of years.
