January 1, 2001.
Run 2 miles Bike 10 miles incl. 10 mins. at HR 160-165. WTS. A bad case of martini head today. Last night we hosted the multi-sport club new year's eve party. What did I learn? I learnt to go easy on the Ass in Space Hot Sauce (from the makers of the Ass in the Bathtub Hot Sauce) and that the host should avoid humping the legs of his guests. I gave Insurance Boy his Xmas present: a copy of Judy Molnars' "You Don't Have to be Thin to Win." I'm not very nice. My new year's resolution: this year I am going to get back into shape and lose some weight. With god as my witness, I WILL BE THIN!!.
January 2, 2001.
Bike 22 miles (3MB 19WT incl. 41 minutes at HR 160-65.) This morning's music: Leather Strip's "Underneath the Laughter"...perfect for grinding a big gear just under threshold. Run 8 miles (4 noon 4pm incl. 2x6x200m (37,36,35x4,35,34x5)). I'm feeling suspiciously healthy today. Dr. Steve told me that, given my current health, just to do 200s today and "don't try to be a hero" and do 400s. Fine. I won't tell him about last week's workouts. Oh, I'm racing next weekend: 800m and he was kind enough to enter me in the 1500m, too. I hate 1500m. It's too long.
January 3, 2001.
Bike 22 miles (3MB 19WT incl. 42 minutes at HR 160-65.) This looks like the beginning of "a plan". This morning's music: Leather Strip's "Solitary Confinement. Run 7 miles (4 noon with wifey-poo, 3pm with Little M.)WTS.

January 5, 2001.
Bike 23 miles(3 miles MB, 20WT incl. 43mins at HR 160-165. Today music: warmed up to Bowie's "Hunky Dory" and suffered to Iggy's "Sister Midnight, Leather Strip's "Yes, I'm Limited Vol.III" and switched back to Iggy for the last 10mins. Run 4 miles noon. WTS. Swim 1k.

Bike 60 miles WT VG HR 120-130 for the easy stuff and 140-150 for the surges. 3 hours on the mag trainer...3 hours on the mag trainer....3 hours on the mag trainer....3 hours on the mag trainer....babble, babble. Track in the afternoon. Run 4 miles incl. 3x200 (35,34,34) 200-400x3 (35,72,35,72,35,70) kick 400 in 63.5. Did I mention that I rode for 3 hours on the mag trainer? An interesting experiment in riding long and then doing speed work. Outside of the kick 400, I wasn't significantly slower.
