By Thom Stromer:fall in treeThom Stromer tree sunkface thrownrolls down slope.CRASH!;CRUNK!;SHPINK!;DTHUD!slapping leaves to siderolls down hill wayplows down hill way.rigamortis finallysettles ina faded shadeby the tributary.it was peeled properthru abrading motion.
not an ear to hear.soooooooooooooooooooo still.
leaned in water neckdipping branch bentslanted wrong.
Itıs in these times of needthat trees must feeloldand worn-out,and HUMAN.
a FOREST is a communitya tree is all alone.
so now HELPLESS,ecstatically helplessfingers drown in riverbent sidewaystrunk borne to airexposed,denied, enraged,and dieing
leaves shed withered like.skin peels gentle like.
cold in airlit in low lightbleeding without bandagesilly, and far too heavy a massthat fell on itıs own weight.
"Ya' been hanging out around too long!"
"Even the squirrels avoided you!"
a tooth knockedout of forest mouth.
