Poem added 6/15/99. By Thom Stromer:

                                 fall in tree

                                                  Thom Stromer

tree sunk

face thrown

rolls down slope.

CRASH!;CRUNK!;SHPINK!;DTHUD!

slapping leaves to side

rolls down hill way

plows down hill way.

rigamortis finally

settles in

a faded shade

by the tributary.

it was peeled proper

thru abrading motion.

not an ear to hear.

soooooooooooooooooooo                        still.

leaned in water neck

dipping branch bent

slanted wrong.

Itıs in these times of need

that trees must feel

old

and worn-out,

and HUMAN.

a FOREST is a community

a tree is all alone.

so now HELPLESS,

ecstatically helpless

fingers drown in river

bent sideways

trunk borne to air

exposed,

denied, enraged,

and dieing

leaves            shed               withered like.

       skin               peels                    gentle like.

cold in air

lit in low light

bleeding without bandage

silly, and far too heavy a mass

that fell on itıs own weight.

"Ya' been hanging out around too long!"

"Even the squirrels avoided you!"

a tooth  knocked

out of forest mouth.

age rots away

and later on......(or soon!)

will take.
