Look To The Rain

What little there was betwixt I and thee
Not the bright shining knight in armor for me

You lead me down a primrose path
There's nothing left in this aftermath

I can only presume you were filled with black lies
Can you see the through the curtain of your lonely eyes?

All I can sense is a great deal of relief
You had no idea, you had no belief . . .

You pursued me as a fox in the chase
And I wasn't even running the race

I tried my best to be there for you
But now I see you were never true

For a moment in time, I thought you were real
Now I understand, you don't know how to feel

You've got a lot of nerve, to place the blame on me
Now that it's over, are you happy and free?

I have no regrets, and I feel no pain
But somehow I know, you left a quite a stain

There are no winners in this sad refrain
And if you must cry, please look to the rain . . . .
