48 hours into the millenium
In the 1980's a series of books called "A Day in the Life of [Area]" were published. The areas covered included Japan, Canada, Australia, Hawaii, Japan, & the USA. A few years back, in the 'bargain book area' of a bookstore; I found, then bought one of these books, "A Day in the Life of America". The concept of this book was for a group of photographers to shoot different themes in different areas of the nation during a twenty-four hour period(May 2, 1986). The various photographers captured various aspects of the American culture during this 24 hour period. The best photographs got published in the book. Although the book doesn't claim to be a true representation of the people or culture, I think that any one from future generations will get a better grasp of what life was like in the US in 1986 by reading this book. Earlier this year, the Great Lakes Plastic Cameras club did a project named A Plastic Day in The Life of the 4th of July. It is an excellent site and they did well with the project{http://www.zone-2.com/plastic/index.html}. I hate to use ideas simmilar to others, but I feel a great club project would be to document the last time when the New Year's Eve and New Year's Day are both in the 20th century. I would like to document the '98-'99 New Year and the '99-'00 New Year's next year. I feel that the diverse members of our club could capture the people and cultures of our time that one day might mean something to future generations.
