Yes, you haven't found the wrong page, I've just changed the page look. I got good and sick of the old one and while this isn't a huge improvement, it's a start.

My sugars are terrific today. Actually, tonight, I had trouble staying on top of them (had to eat an extra snack)...too much insulin, I think or too much scouring the kitchen. Of course, now I'm getting the cold Russll has had all week, but I do have a spotless kitchen. I just need to mop the floor and I'm heading to Costco with Pauline tomorrow to buy the replacement mop heads to do that. *sigh*

Today I did some serious shopping. I went to the fabric store sales -- it's an annual event that all fabric stores everywhere have a big enormous sale on New Year's Day. I went to the biggest one around and I actually left kind of early, but you know those quiet sneaky seamstress types...the damned stored opened at 9, and I didn't drag my ass through the door til 11, so I paid dearly for that miscalculations with miserable lines.

I did make out on patterns though. Most everything I wanted was 99 cents in patterns, though for the life of me, I went through my three favorite catalogs (Simplicity, Butterick and McCalls) and I couldn't find a single button down the front dress except one that would be too fitting for post-partum. The whole idea of getting one that buttoned down, is so that I could pop a couple buttons and nurse the baby when she's born. I did manage to locate the only nursing pattern in the whole damned store and I had to pay $4 for it, but it's cheaper than I could have gotten it otherwse.

I also found the baby fabrics. In a fit of baby-izing, I went found a pattern for a bassinet drapery set and called Mike and had him measure the bassinet for me. Of course, Russell answered the phone the first few times because Mike was in the pot and kept hanging up on me, inadvertently. (I think it's hysterical that Russell answers the phone,"Who is it?") "Russell, put the phone down on the table, not back on the microwave and go get Mike." *click* In the fabric store are the sounds of mother cussing under her breath about long-distance calls and 6 year olds, as she redials the phone.

The whole reason for going through all of this nonsense was that they had Beatrix Potter fabric sets that I could make a whole bedding set out of and I could even buy stuff that would work for decorations. I was so thrilled. I may scan some sketches from some of her books and then turn them into posters for Jax's room.

I bought all of the fabric for half price and bought a couple sets of fabric to go into dresses and hats for a newborn in the summer months. I also bought the assorted bric-a-brac: zigzag, lace and ribbons that will make her outfits particularly foofoo. Admittedly, I came under a severe case of babyizing. I did come in within budget -- I spent the $100 I expected to.

The drag is that it took me 3 hours to get what I wanted and get out of there, which was insane. I was constantly having to excuse my big enormous belly and I stood in line for 45 minutes waiting to get my fabric cut. It then took another half hour because we had to piece the fabric together to make it work. It was a royal pain in the ass. By the time I left, I was weaving in hypoglycemia and ravenous. I pulled out of the parking lot and looked for fast food and found Jack-in-the-box. I was contemplating a big fat greasy burger, but felt like I'd lucked out when I found they had a chicken fajita pita. I ate it totally guilt-free!

My sugars in tact, I headed down the road, bought some gas and then hit the factory outlet stores where I checked out Corelle dinner sets. I have four plates of everything or at least I did and then Russell smashed 2 plates. And it isn't like they were fine china, but they were part of a set and we only have 3 sets of plates and if we have three meals in a day, they're gone. Now, however, we are down to 2 sets of plates and I got smart and convinced Mike that we have to get a set of decent plates. So I hunted around at the outlet store and asked some questions of a clerk who volunteered that they are having a better sale in a week, and suggested I come back then to save the money.

She was very conspiratory about it and . Afterwards, all I could think is that I must have just looked pitifully pregnant and decided that's why she told me about it. I noticed, too, that cars in the parking lot were waiting for me to cross the street and not getting all grumpy. I forgot about this part of the pregnancy where you're just looking huge and lumbering and WADDLING and everyone let's you do whatever the hell you want, well, that and they tell you you glow. Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer had a shiny nose and you might even say it glowed. I don't like being compared to a big red clown nose that lights up. I'm fat, I'm pregnant and I'm capable of having justified hormonal rampages -- do you really want to tell me I glow?

And another thing that I'm remembering that I forgot about is that I hate having my belly touched. There are two people I let touch my belly and they both have strict orders NOT to touch my belly when I'm in labor...Mike and Pauline and they both know that I strictly tolerate it because they are who they are. Most people don't touch my belly. You can tell they want to, but they don't. But little old ladies are the absolute worst for belly touching. I'm thinking of carrying around a electrified stick in my purse and every time one of these little old ladies reaches out to touch my belly, I'd give them a jolt. Granted it's just a fantasy, but it makes me all warm and drooly just thinking about it.

My shoulder is better tonight...not all torn up. I laid down on the bed with a sock under the stress rib on the opposite side and it pushed the rib into place. By this afternoon, the swelling from the pinched stuff had gone down and I was out of pain. Now, my neck on the other side is a little screwed up, so maybe I pushed the rib too long with my sock. The relief is worth a crick in the neck though. Now, if I could just get my back to stop aching, I'd be all set.
