Dedication:
This poem is dedicated to my love Pavel, the one
who changed my life, who taught me how to love again.
My best friend & soulmate. I will always love you.

From Your Heart to Mine

back in the day
when I was drunk with anticipation
waiting for a smile; a look
a hint

life was just a pipe dream
of promises & wishes
meant to be broken

he said he loved me
then left
never a glance backward
never a memory

back in the day
when I was foolish
a believer
trapped on Cloud Nine
riding a tidal wave of manic emotions

I crash landed on Earth before long
and stared at the face of reality
once again.

back in the day
when I was adventurous
and brave
there was e-mail
and men
and notes
and......
I was very lucky one summer day.

Your e-mail came with many but held
a certain something, a promise, goodness.
and I wasn't afraid
of what was ahead
on the superhighway.

You
the perfect person
for me
You
make beautiful music
You
make my heart hum
in utter rapture.

You said I had a beautiful soul.

And you didn't leave.

I carefully climbed back
onto Cloud Nine
keeping myself grounded on Earth
waiting for the punch line.

But there was no punch line--

Life is a smile, a grin, a laugh.

A touch. A kiss. Magical, mystical words.

Hypnotizing stares.

A beautiful song created by us.

Life is a beautiful technicolor image;
heaven
I am happy again.

You stayed.

I am drunk with love, real love.

from across the miles
from across the phone lines
from across your bed
(we'd look into each other's eyes for hours).
from your heart to mine.

from e-mail to love
from cyberspace to Michigan
from Oxford to Warren

blooming love
in December
with a click of a mouse
a dial-up connection
to make a real connection
of heart, mind, & soul.

Notes: This poem starts out cynical, but ends happily, just like the end of last year when everything came together for us. It is a true story of how I met my future husband and soulmate, Pavel.
