FISH INSTRUCTIONS
Materials Used for Fish:
17" X 26" Board
20" X 29" Fabric (black) or color of your choice.
48 yards thread - for body, layers 1 and 4.
24 yards thread - for body, layer No. 2
24 yards thread - for body, layer No. 3
Elmer's white glue
47 - 1 1/2" Nails    51 - 3/4" Nails

Suggested Color Pattern: or color of your choice.
Body layers 1 & 4 - Red
Body layer 2 - Yellow
Body layer 3 - Pink
Fins - Gold

DIRECTIONS:
Tape pattern to plywood. Make small indent where nails will be
drilled. Drill holes  all the way through plywood. Use the
smallest drill bit you can find. Nails must not slip through
holes, they must be tight.
All threads on this design are worked counterclockwise around
all nails. Body uses large nails and fins use small nails.

1. FIRST LAYER: BODY
Tie thread onto top of large nail no. 1, leaving a 4" length of
thread free. From nail no. 1, wrap as follows:

2-26      14-38      25-2      37-14
3-27      15-39      26-3      38-15
4-28      16-40      27-4      39-16
5-29      17-41      28-5      40-17
6-30      18-42      29-6      41-18
7-31      19-43      30-7      42-19
8-32      20-44      31-8      43-20
9-33      21-45      32-9      44-21
10-34     22-46      33-10     45-22
11-35     23-47      34-11     46-23

Return thread to nail no. 1. Tie off tail ends and push completed
layer down evenly with bottom of board.

2. FIN "A":
Tie thread onto small nail number 1, leaving a 4" length of
thread free. Wrap in following order:
1-44      5-11      45-7      10-3
2-8       6-12      13-6       9-2
3-9       7-13      12-5       8-1
4-10     44-45      11-4
Tie off tail ends and push layer down 1/4" from board.

3. FIN "B":
Tie thread onto small nail no. 1 and wrap fin in following
order.
1-10      6-15      9-16      5-12
2-11      7-16      8-15      4-11
3-12      8-17      7-14      3-10
4-13      9-18      6-13      2-Lg.1
5-14     Lg.1-17
Return thread to small nail no. 1 and tie off tail threads.
Push completed layer down evenly 1/4" above board.

4. FIN "C":
Tie thread onto small nail no. 1 and continue by wrapping
as follows:
1-11      7-16      10-19      6-14
2-12     Lg.3-17     9-18      5-Lg.4
3-13      8-18       8-17      4-13
Sm.4-Lg.4 9-19      Lg.3-16    3-12
5-14     10-20       7-15      2-11
6-15
Return thread to small nail no. 1. Cut and tie off threads.
Push layer of thread down 1/4" from bottom of board.

5. SECOND LAYER: BODY
Tie thread onto top of large nail no. 1. Wrap second layer
of body as in step no. 1, using starting points 1-27. continue
pattern until each nail has two threads on it and you
have reached the same two points (1-27) from which you
started. Cut thread and tie off as before. Push completed
layer down 1/2" from bottom of board.

6. THIRD LAYER: BODY
Tie thread onto top of large nail no. 1. Wrap third layer
of body as in step no. 1, using starting points 1-29. Continue
pattern until each nail has two threads on it and you
have reached the same two points (1-29) from which you
started. Cut threads and tie off as before. Push completed
layer down 1" from bottom of board.

7. FOURTH LAYER: BODY
Tie thread onto top of large nail no. 1. Wrap fourth layer
of body as in step no. 1, using starting points 1-31. Continue
pattern until each nail has two threads on it and you
have reached the same two points (1-31) from which you
started. Cut thread and tie off as before. Leave this layer
at the top of the nails.

8. Cut off all tail end threads 1/8" from nails. Add a dab of
Elmers white glue to each knot to secure.
