DIAMOND DELTOID


This design is created by combining the diamond and the deltoid.
This design can be used in a vertical or horizontal position and is a
good design for blending colors.
The project shown in the color section was worked on a 16" X 24"
board covered with yellow felt and threaded with black for the
diamond and burnt orange for the deltoid.

Making Your Design Pattern

Using Figure 74, trace the design onto 1/2" graph paper. Now, working
line by line and square by square, transfer the design to 1" graph
paper. Your pattern should now be full size, approximately 16" at the
highest point and 12" at the widest point. Note that the top line of the
deltoid (E) is in direct line with the top corner of the diamond, the
right line (F) is in direct line with brad 16 on line A, and the left line
(G) is in direct line with brad 26 on line B.
Label lines A to G and place all brads (a total of 209) 1/4" apart and
label them as in Figure 75.

Working the Threading Pattern

This entire project is worked in the one-to-one correspondence
method.
1.  Start by threading diamond sides A and B (see Fig. 75) as
follows: Tie your thread at brad 1 on side A; pull thread tight to brad
2 on side B; loop around and return to brad 2 on side A; and then
follow this sequence: 2-3; 3-3; 3-4; 4-4; 4-5; 5-5; 5-6; 6-6; 6-7; 7-7;
7-8; 8-8; 8-9; 9-9; 9-10; 10-10; 10-11; 11-11; 11-12; 12-12; 12-13;
13-13; 13-14; 14-14; 14-15; 15-15; 15-16; 16-16; 16-17; 17-17; 17-18;
18-19; 19-19; 19-20; 20-20; 20-21; 21-21; 21-22; 22-22; 22-23; 23-24;
24-24; 24-25; 25-25; 25-26; 26-26; 26-27; 27-27; 27-28; 28-28; 28-29;
29-29; 29-30; 30-30; 30-31; 31-31; 31-32; 32-32; 32-33; 33-33; 33-34;
34-34; 34-35; 35-35; 35-36; 36-36; 36-37; 37-37; 37-38; 38-38; 38-39;
39-39; 39-40; 40-40. Tie off.
2.  Now, work sides C and D, using the same threading sequence:
Tie your thread at brad 1 on side C; pull the thread tight to brad 2 on
side D; loop around and return to brad 2 on side C; and follow the
above sequence: 2-3; 3-3; 3-4 . . . 39-40; 40-40. Tie off.
3.  For the small overlay sections within the diamond (see Fig. 76),
thread side B with side C as follows: Tie your thread at brad 21 on
side B and pull thread tight to brad 2 on side C; 2-22; 22-3; 3-23;
23-4; 4-24; 24-5; 5-25; 25-6; 6-26; 26-7; 7-27; 27-8; 8-28; 28-9; 9-29;
29-10; 10-30; 30-11; 11-31; 31-12; 12-32; 32-13; 13-33; 33-14; 14-34;
34-15; 15-35; 35-16; 16-36; 36-17; 17-37; 37-18; 18-38; 38-19; 19-39;
39-20; 20-40; 40-21; 21-1 on side C. Tie off.
4.  Now, work the second overlay section by threading side D with
side A, following the above sequence: Tie your thread at brad 21 on
side D and pull tight to brad 2 on side A; 2-22; 22-3; 3-23 . . . 20-40;
40-21; 21-1 on side A. Tie off.
5.  To work the deltoid in the center of the diamond (see Fig. 77),
thread line E with line F as follows: Tie your thread at brad 1 on line
E and pull to brad 1 on line F; 1-2; 2-2; 2-3; 3-3; 3-4; 4-4; 4-5; 5-5;
5-6; 6-6; 6-7; 7-7; 7-8; 8-8; 8-9; 9-9; 9-10; 10-10; 10-11; 11-11; 11-12;
12-12; 12-13; 13-13; 13-14; 14-14; 14-15; 15-15; 15-16; 16-16. Tie
off.
6.  Work this same sequence to thread line E with line G.
7.  Now, thread line G with line F as follows: Tie your thread at
brad 1 on line G and pull to brad 16 on line F; 16-2; 2-15; 15-3; 3-14;
14-4; 4-13; 13-5; 5-12; 12-6; 6-11; 11-7; 7-10; 10-8; 8-9; 9-9; 9-8;
8-10; 10-7; 7-11; 11-6; 6-12; 12-5; 5-13; 13-4; 4-14; 14-3; 3-15; 15-2;
2-16; 16-1. Tie off.
