Michelle's Quilt Art Page

This page is devoted to quilting as a wonderfully creative American art form. Quilting as an art has been diminished by the wholesale commercialization of quilts sewn in factories for consumers worldwide. As a result, uneducated consumers very often are not able to appreciate the difference between a quilt sewn assembly style by factory workers in India and one that has been painstakingly crafted by an independent quilter.

Quilting is such a fluid artform. It has both two dimensional and three dimensional qualities. Quilted and pieced works can be traditional or modern and can incorporate the most expressive and creative uses of color, pattern and design. Here is a forum for those quilt artists who would like to preserve the authenticity and value of this particular art form.

I would love for this site to be an online community quilt art association with opportunities for quilters to share techniques, find resources, and display their work in an online gallery. Also, this is a good forum for quilters to help define what makes a piece artistic or exceptionally different from what I call a factory quilt. As you can see, this site is still under construction, so your input will help determine the direction this site will take.

I'm still learning how to create web pages, so if you would like to see my HTML journey click on my Virtual Notebook link. If you would like to email me, click on the link to Michelle at Lisandra Creations.
