Indonesian press outlines terror cell
Reports from Indonesia say seven foreigners, led by a Yemeni and Malaysian,
planned and carried out the Bali bombing.
The Jakarta Post newspaper says the foreign group, which entered the country
through Semarang, the main city in Central Java, included a European and two people
with links to a series of bombings in the Philippines.
The paper, citing a "top level" intelligence source, said the terrorist cell was led by a
Yemeni and his Malaysian deputy.
The group is believed to have prepared the explosives in Semarang before using them
to blow up the two bars filled with foreign tourists in the Kuta district on Bali.
Police hold suspects
Indonesian police say they're set to formally arrest four Indonesians in relation to
Saturday's nightclub bombing.
Philippa McDonald reports from Kuta the four have been undergoing intensive
questioning and a National police spokesman Brigadier-General Saleh Saaf says the
four will be arrested as soon as arrest warrants are issued.
He says the four are Bali residents, but not ethnic Balinese.
McDonald reports, "The brigadier-general claims they've refused to answer questions,
or contradicted each other."
"One is alleged to have links with a man whose identity card was found at the scene
of Saturday's blast."
