1000 attend anti-US rally in Indonesia
More than 1,000 Muslims from hardline Islamic groups have attended a mass
anti-America rally in Indonesia.
The protestors declared they were ready to wage a holy war against Washington.
The rally was held in the city of Solo, in central Java.
The secretary general of the Front for the Defenders of Islam, Ahmad Sobri Lubis,
says it was called to protest allegations by Washington that the al-Qaeda network is
active in Indonesia.
He says demonstrators were told never to trust the US government, as long as it
continues to repress Muslims in Afghanistan.
Mr Lubis says the protestors also reject allegations that Indonesian Islamic leader
Abubakar Bashir is involved in international terrorist networks.
