Indonesia says terrorists in country based in Maluku and Poso
Indonesia's Armed Forces Commander Edriartono Sutarto has admitted to the
existence of terrorist elements in Indonesia but said the country's security forces have
yet to determine links to Al Qaeda.
But the General said these terrorist elements are foreign-trained and are based in the
war-torn areas of Maluku and Poso in Sulawesi.
He was responding to queries from the media after Indonesia was accused of being a
terrorist hub by the US.
The four-star General said Indonesia's intelligence body has gathered proof in the form
of video tapes and documents taken from the conflict areas which are hit by endless
sectarian strife.
