John Howard to arrive in Bali
CANBERRA (JP): Australian Prime Minister John Howard is slated to arrive in Bali to
attend a memorial service for dead victims of blasts that occurred last Saturday night.
Howard told Antara on Thursday that he would be in Bali until Friday morning and did
not have any plans to visit Jakarta.
Vice Prime Minister John Anderson will accompany Howard during his Bali visit.
The powerful explosions that occurred in Kuta and Renon killed more than 180 foreign
tourists -- mostly Australians -- and injured about 300 others.
Howard said the objective of his visit was to express sympathy to relatives of the
victims.
He did not say whether or not he would meet with President Megawati Soekarnoputri
during his visit.
Howard said he appreciated Indonesia's move to cooperate with foreign intelligence
bodies to investigate the incident.
Australia and the United States have sent teams to help investigate the bombings.
