OECF to extend financial aid of Rp 3.6b to rehabilitate hospitals in
Maluku
AMBON, Maluku (JP): The Japan's Overseas Economic Cooperation Fund (OECF) in
the 2002 fiscal year will extend Rp 3.6 billion in aid for the rehabilitation of five
hospitals and a number of public health centers in the province of Maluku, according
to an official at the provincial health office.
Head of the provincial health office Dr Ristianto Sugiono said here on Tuesday that the
OECF assistance would be allocated for the renovation of five hospitals, including the
Maluku Protestant Church (GPM) Hospital and the Hative Hospital in Ambon, as well
as public health centers in the city's Sirimau subdistrict.
"The Tuhehu Hospital in Salahutu subdistrict (in Maluku province) and a public health
center in Leihitu district, Central Sulawesi province, will also receive OECF
assistance," he said as quoted by Antara.
Sugiono noted that the Tuhehu Hospital and GPM Hospital will each receive Rp 600
million in assistance while the Hative Hospital, hich got burned during one of the
conflicts, will receive Rp 400 million.
The rehabilitation of hospitals and public health centers in Maluku is aimed at
supporting the implementation of the Malino peace agreement, particularly in terms of
improving the local people's welfare, he added.
