Rieteka Geursen

My drawings have developed from a fascination with paper as a substitute for skin. The layers of paper are torn, cut, peeled away, discoloured and then partially repaired in the creation of the drawing. My skin undertakes a similar experience throughout my life. Some wounds will heal whilst others will become scars and remain throughout my life. The paper drawing documents its own physical progression. Layers and marks have been added and taken away to reveal a human form. The paper has undergone a physical transformation, as does the body over time.
