Nighlife 3rd ed is 256 pages 2nd ed is 96 pages
Rule changes
- Some combat skills now are based on (DEX+STR)/2 instead of DEX or STR alone
- Little Martial Arts changes (Hard Martial Arts now allowing for Knockdown ; Wing Chi included in Soft Martial Arts)
- Skills and Rules for automatic weapons slightly changed
|
Races / Edges / Flaws revisions & additions
- another "Edge" (power) added (named "Mask") to allow monstrous creatures to imitate temporarilly a human apparence (less powerful and less expensive than "Alter Form", but very useful for Grotesque / Horrifying characters such as Ogres / Ekimmu)
- the Appearence Flaw (Strange / Grotesque / Horrifying) is also a novelty (and they forgot the precision in some secondary races)
- some races have been revised. The Rakshasa is the most altered (used to be a feline Vampire, is now a shapechanging ogre), becoming a very interesting option.
|
Some additions
- rules from supplements (such as the rules about Elder Kin, which were found in the "Magic" book)
- races from supplements (like the Weryl and Fifft from "Musical Vein")
- details about "Target Alpha" (the monster hunters originally described in "Magic").
- more details about the Wormholes, the underground world under NYC, full of disgusting beasties)
|
Enriched background
- 20 pages about New York City "by night"
- 25 pages about gangs and factions
- 25 pages of NPCs
- maps ...
|
Others
- some little things have been removed, which were quite useless (like elemental PCs ... brrr)
- re-organisation of the rules, with new art (there's an illustration for every NPC, and almost every race) mostly from the divine Bradley K McDevitt.
