USS Guam - Spring 1941

 This is a photo of the crew of USS Guam taken in Hankow sometime in early 1941. Guam was renamed Wake in April 1941.

The photo is provided courtesy of Goldon A. Wood and his daughter, Roberta Wood Bailey. Mr. Wood is standing behind the seated officer immediately to the right of the life ring. Born in 1917 and enlisting in the navy in 1934, Mr. Wood served in Oahu, Guam/Wake and Luzon beginning in January 1940. He departed Shanghai 13 November 1941 for the United States.
