September 3rd, 2001 3 days to go and Counting |
Don got back to me late Saturday with the scoop on which box was picked as the starting point. Number 33!
I couldn't believe it when he told me. After ending up being the last people to get our orders filled in 2000 we are suddenly the first box to filled this year. What are the odds? After the good news sunk in we began to realize that it was rather anti-climatic. There was no real need for us to line up first thing this morning to get our selections and that if we got all our selections there would be no need to scramble to select alternates. Of course we did line up around 8:30 am this morning (Labour Day) to pick up our selections. It was rather a surreal experience lined up inside the caverenous Eaton Centre before the shops opened for business. Sure we didn't have to worry about the elements (and homeless begging for change), but isn't that half the "reality" of the film fest. I felt like the fest had moved from Toronto to suburbia. I am sure I'll get enough contact with the weather and street people during the actual fest, so no worry there. So long story short, we got all our selections and went home. Rather anti-climatic, but hey WE'RE NUMBER ONE! So here's my film list for 2001 --Andy's Schedule Until Later.... |
