4 Days to go and Counting

Wow, where have the last three weeks gone since I wrote an entry here?

Picked up our selections today from the box office at the Eaton Centre. We (Don, Pauline et. al) were in box 30 and wouldn't you know it box 29 was drawn as the random starting point! That makes it 2 years running that we have gotten all our first choice picks. I consider myself very forunate to have received all my picks, especially considering two years ago at the festival we were in the very last box to be filled and it hurt.

I've posted my list of 33 picks and what I'll be seeing over the ten days of the festival. It looks like a pretty busy schedule right now, with a lot of 3 and 4 film days lined up.

I think the film I am most looking forward to seeing this year is the documentary "Lost In La Mancha" which follows Terry Gilliam's ill fated attempt to make an epic Don Quixote movie starring Johnny Depp. Gilliam's film was shelved after several disasters hit the international set of the film in 2001. There were reports the film was to screen last year, but as it turns out it was still being added to at the time and was not released until this year at the BERLIN film festival.

Word has it that Gilliam is even in town for the film. Should be interesting. The people that made the documentary also made the documentary about 12 Monkeys that is available on the DVD as a bonus.

My first film is Thursday night with South Korean movie called "Take Care of My Cat". Looking forward to kicking off the festival in style this week.

Wish me luck. Until Later....
