  The early days!

Can I say once again, how great it is to have a scanner? My advice to anyone: don't get one of those cheapo scanners. Pay a couple of bucks to get some bells and whistles.

One thing: if you don't have SCSI (a blazing fast interface that connects the scanner / other peripherals), then opt for USB. Microsoft may have pushed this down our throats but at least USB has a use (heck, even Macs use USB!)

  • In the beginning...

    baby photo

This is one of the first EVER recorded photos of yours truly. As you can see, the "open mouth" bit runs way back... Taken in a professional studio, at least my mom had the decency NOT to dress me in stupid clothes or poses. One bad thing: the picture has seen better days-- colour has faded somewhat due to exposure to moisture and air...

    kindergarten photo

The photo on the right has me lined up in kindergarten (I'm the Asian kid in the centre of the picture with the blue sweater!) Your classic cutesy pictures of a bunch of kids from the old 'hood. To be honest, I cannot remember MANY of these people. If you're out there and checking my webpage out, please WRITE ME!!!

Forest Glade Public Elementary School days...

Sarsi kid heat stroke grade 2 Quebec trip group shot Quebec bus ride Grade 8 graduation
    (From left to right)

(1)This is me in Taiwan when I was three. I was already hooked on the best soft drink unavailable in North America (unless it's imported), SARSI. Tastes like root beer but infinitely better.

(2)The Taiwan heat got the better of me. This CBC (Canadian-born Chinese) kid can't take the heat...

(3)Here is a picture of me and a couple of friends in grade 2. There's me, Amanda, Danielle, and Derrick. There were 3 "Derricks" (and other variant spellings) in my class. The teacher calling names didn't help matters. I had the biggest crush on Amanda back then... she was a cutie! (Haven't spoken to her since high school... I should look her up.) Don't get me wrong-- Danielle is no slouch, either. I've only heard rumours about her so I should talk to her and see how she's doing, too.

(4)Moving on to Grade 8-- we had our class trip to Quebec City. The city was really nice. The only downside was that it was FREEZING when we went. Us Southwestern Ontario people in the sunparlour can't take the cold, either. (I realize now what a typical cold is now that I live in Toronto-- Windsor people are spoiled by the mild weather we have...)

(5)The ride back from Quebec... a few of the boys got a little rowdy. Chris is getting his head squashed on the seats. Dejan is holding his arm back while Shawn is listening to his walkman.

(6)The final chapter to my grade school days-- graduation. Held at the Polonia Centre (now called Place Concorde), that was the last time I saw many of my former classmates. I was the last to address the crowd-- as co-valedictorian, I spoke to friends and family for 10 minutes. (Who would have imagined I would do the same in high schoo!!!) It was there that I learned to overcome the fear of speaking in front of a crowd. (I still get a couple of gitters but nothing like before...)
