DOLDRUMS

I’ve traversed this ghostly city

too many times

alone

save the majestic stallion I ride

capable of such speed

when given a clear path

now
no more certain than I

which way to go

how is it
we’ve landed here again?

a maze of streets without names

snaking beneath us

as if playthings

for some mischievous god

my mount spooked

almost to the point of throwing me

yet somehow

always finding our way back

to the sea of poems

where that same colorful sailboat

patiently awaits us
