A TIMELY POEM ABOUT UNTIMELY DEATH
often heard is the expression
"an untimely death"
compelling me to ask
is there ever a good time to die?
despite the somber topic
an air of hilarity
in the hypothetical opposite:
Joe or Jane So and So
enjoyed a timely death
as if
some of us wake up one morning
exclaiming "Yes that's it!
I'd like to pass on ten years from now
November 3rd to be exact
which will give me plenty of time
to pay off the mortgage
send the kids through college
go on a few trips”
ruling
out suicide
imagine that individual's disappointment
when come the chosen day
they're still very much alive
would this then constitute an untimely survival?
